How did Matt Willis meet his wife Emma and how many children do they have?

Matt Willis is bearing his soul in a new documentary about his addiction battle after being catapulted to fame at age 19.

The Busted singer, 40, admitted during an interview on Lorraine that he’s ‘always worried about relapse‘ as he opened up about his drink and drug addiction.

Matt’s rock has been his wife, TV presenter Emma Willis, 47, who he has been married to since 2008.

The couple, who have been together for almost two decades, are parents to Isabelle, 13, Ace, 11, and Trixie, seven.

As the hitmaker opens up about his struggles in his new BBC documentary Fighting Addiction, MailOnline takes a look at his and Emma’s relationship history and family life.

How did Matt and Emma Willis meet?

Matt and Emma first met back in 2004 while she was working as a presenter for MTV and interviewed him while he was part of Busted.

Emma recounted the pair’s meeting during an episode of Shopping With Keith Lemon, saying: ‘It was behind the set sort of thing. He was walking past and I thought, ‘underneath all that makeup, he’s actually quite cute.’

‘Then we met with a bunch of mutual friends and that was the first time we properly met outside of work. There was a bit of smooching.’

Emma revealed it was her who made the first move as she got a mutual friend to give Matt her number.

‘He made me wait three days to call me back,’ she added.

Where did they get married?

Matt and Emma married at Rushton Hall, Northamptonshire on July 5, 2008 after three years of dating.

Celebrities including Jason Donovan, Holly Willoughby, Kar Tointon and Matt’s busted bandmate James Bourne were in attendance at the bash.

The couple chose the Beach Boys’ God Only Knows as their first dance song before playing Busted’s Crashed The Wedding for guests to join in.

Matt and Emma renewed their vows at Rushton Hall for their tenth anniversary in 2018 in a recreation of their wedding day.

The couple were sure to invite a host of famous faces to the summer soiree, including Rochelle and Marvin Humes, former The Voice UK coach Ricky Wilson, Fearne Cotton and actress Vicky McClure.

How many children do they have?

The couple are parents to daughters Isabelle, 13, and Trixie, seven, and son Ace, 11.

Emma previously praised her three children for openly ‘expressing themselves’ in a post shared to mark Children’s Mental Health Week.

Captioning the image which showed the children with their backs to the camera, she wrote: ‘Expressing themselves for #childrensmentalhealthweek. Raised in exactly the same way, yet all completely unique.’

Listing each one of their attributes she has come to admire, she continued: ‘My teenager before her time, my boss lady baby and my rainbow boy ❤

‘This week I’ve watched them discuss and explore their own mental health with their teachers and class mates and I couldn’t be prouder.

‘I don’t remember experiencing anything like this when I was at school but it’s so obviously necessary for our kids, so their little minds can start to understand their thoughts, feeling, and emotions and that they feel comfortable expressing them.’

Emma previously expressed her shock at the outpouring of support she received after sharing a picture of her son Ace wearing a pink top and sporting long blond hair.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain, the presenter said she was ‘overwhelmed’ by the reaction, sweetly saying: ‘He’s just my son in a pink top.’

She continued: ‘For me that’s normality. He loves colour, he’s always had long hair, he’s a free and able-minded boy.

‘He’s like, ‘ why do I have to dress in green and blue and grey, when I love red and pink and purple?’ He’s always been that way.’

She continued: ‘We’re trying to raise him as an open-minded, inclusive individual. There were some negative bits, but that’s where the block button is great!’
