Amy said: ‘I started bleeding and I thought I was A+ blood type and my midwife kept saying it’s a good job I am that blood type.

‘She said if I was a negative blood type then I would need an Anti-D but go and get checked out on Monday.

‘So I was being Amy positive and Sam was amazing and every time I went for a wee he’d ask for the update and did a lot of research, he’s the best.

‘I was being very positive and thought it was nothing bad but just because I had been for a cervical exam and thought that’s all it is.

The former air hostess continued: ‘I said to myself, “We’ll be back here next September with our baby”.

‘The next morning, Sam said “It’s OK to be anxious about these things, you know”. I told him “No, I’m not anxious. Don’t accuse me of being anxious, I’m positive”.’

Amy found out her blood type after her mother opened her hospital letter while she was on holiday, which meant she had to hurry back home and began to ‘panic’.

The TV personality explained that she had rhesus negative blood meaning she needed an ‘injection within 72 hours’ to develop an immune response to it.

According to the NHS, a baby can only be positive for rhesus disease if their RhD negative mother has been sensitised to RhD positive blood.

Amy explained: ‘You need an injection within 72 hours ideally so I moved my flight earlier and they managed to fit me in.

‘I’m going to Ibiza tomorrow at four in the morning so I was fit in and had a consultation with the nurse and she said she was going to try and find the heartbeat but wasn’t sure she could as I’m only 15 weeks.

‘She couldn’t find it after trying but managed to sweet talk someone into giving me a quick scan to check and the baby was all fine.

‘I then had to have a blood test, wait and hour and a half and then have my Anti-D injection so hopefully that’s all fine.’

The reality star announced the happy news of expecting her first child last month while appearing on ITV daytime show Loose Women.

Amy revealed that her pregnancy was ‘100 per cent unplanned’ and said she still plans to use her frozen eggs in the future as she wants to have two to four kids.

She explained that after sharing her fertility journey with the show in the past, it was, ‘the only place to announce I’m pregnant’, before taking to Instagram to release snaps of her baby scan.

Amy has openly documented undergoing three rounds of eggs freezing – two of which were successful and resulted in 12 eggs being frozen at a cost of £12,000.

Amy and Sam also revealed they will not be finding out the sex of the baby before the birth, explaining: ‘I do surprises for everyone else, and I ruin every surprise for me. So I’m not ruining the surprise, I’m not finding out.’

The reality star revealed she had had to hide her pregnancy during her 30th birthday party earlier this month.

She revealed: ‘I had my 30th entirely sober, I had a cup so no one could see what I was drinking’.

What is egg freezing?

Freezing allows women to store their eggs at a young age so they can be used in IVF when they want a family.

This gives them a greater chance of conceiving as the quality of the eggs they produce as they get older deteriorates.

But so far fewer than a fifth have a baby after using their frozen eggs, according to the fertility watchdog, the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA).

It has an average UK cost of £8,000.

Amy quipped: ‘It’s the biggest day of my life and I want to be able to drink champagne!… I’m a control enthusiast!’

Taking to her Instagram on the same day, Amy revealed her pregnancy to her followers with a slew of snaps of her and Sam posing with the ultrasound photo.

Captioning the shots, she said: ‘Mamma Mia. Here we go….

‘So as you may or may not have noticed we’ve been a little less active on here in the last few months, certainly a lot less drunken behaviour on Amy’s stories. In short, she’s either been asleep or nauseous.

‘Family is so important to both of us, it was a value that bonded us right from the start and we are so excited to become a family of our own in March.

‘From a sober 30th, to a sober week long hen do, it’s been so hard keeping it a secret but we’re so happy we can finally share it all with you!

‘We’ve both had individual and collective worries over the years that this may not have been the simplest process or that it may not happen at all.

‘Interestingly enough, we got pregnant unexpectedly because the app that was telling us the fertile window was SO out.

‘So much so that if we’d started trying in January as planned we probably wouldn’t have fallen pregnant as we would have been nowhere near the ovulation days!

‘We were told earlier this year that if we hadn’t fallen pregnant within 6 months of starting trying, it would be straight to IVF. Life has a funny way eh!!

‘Big thanks to @loosewomen for having us today. We felt, as Amy’s talked on the show about fertility MOT’s, solo IVF, Egg freezing and even introduced Sam to the world, it was the only place to share the next step of our story.

‘Can’t wait to get back to connecting with you all now we don’t have to bend the truth anymore. As people who always strive to be authentic it’s been SO HARD.

‘Finally, we just want to say, to everyone who’s shared their journeys with Amy over the years when she’s talked about IVF/egg freezing/AMH, we will always strive to be as sensitive as we can, minimal moaning, we hope to always have a positive mindset.

‘The baby will be an addition to our pages as we share our lives, not the sole focus (Amy literally can’t wait to get back to 1am drunken stories. Right, let’s do this.’
