Strictly’s Molly Rainford set to land new job on BBC’s EastEnders

Molly Rainford is the latest star rumoured to be joining the BBC‘s famous EastEnders.

The Strictly Come Dancing star, 22, is set to be taking up the role of a daughter in a new family moving to Walford to take over the Queen Vic later this year.

It comes after Danny Dyer‘s exit earlier this year, which saw his wife in the show, Linda, sell the pub after his tragic death.

According to The Sun, she is set to join a long list of Strictly finalists to go on to ‘bigger things’.

A TV insider told the publication: ‘Molly joins a long line of former finalists who’ve gone on to bigger things than the competitors who’ve ultimately triumphed.

‘But anyone who saw her on Strictly could see the entertainment world was her oyster.’

Molly could play the daughter of Ray Winstone, who has already been reportedly lined up with a role in TV’s Albert Square.

It was already reported that Ray is reportedly being lined up to replace Danny Dyer as the hardman in EastEnders and it has even been speculated by some close to the BBC soap opera that he may become the landlord of the Queen Vic pub.

The character he would potentially play would be the patriarch of a family also featuring new characters, including Molly.

Despite this, sources at the BBC insisted that there were no plans for Winstone, 66, to appear.

However, they have previously dampened such rumours about other big-name signings, only for them to be announced officially shortly afterwards.

Winstone, who starred in gangster movie Sexy Beast, almost joined EastEnders as long-running character Billy Mitchell’s brother back in 2008 but turned it down after accepting a role in Indiana Jones And The Crystal Skull.

At the time soap bosses said they were desperate to get him on the show.

The actor later said: ‘That thing about turning up five times a week, these guys work really hard, it just ain’t for me. I wondered if I’d probably be the only one from the East End in the show.’

The London district of Bromley-by-Bow, where the fictional Albert Square is supposed to be located, is just two miles from Hackney Hospital where Winstone was born. He lived in Plaistow, in the East End, until he was seven, when the family moved to North London.

Viewers of the show will be aware that there will be some kind of change in ownership of the pub following Danny’s exit.

The actor’s final scenes as Mick Carter aired on Christmas Day, and saw the Queen Vic landlord mysteriously lost at sea after plunging into the water to save his estranged wife Linda.

The rumours of Molly’s new role comes after she and Tyler West appeared to confirm their relationship as they were spotted walking hand-in-hand in Belfast, Ireland.

The duo are currently circling the country on the Strictly Come Dancing live tour, and were enjoying the stroll while heading back to their hotel in the Northern Irish city.

In pictures obtained by The Sun, the singer and radio host linked hands while appearing to enjoy a light chat.

They are thought to have been out partying with their co-stars earlier in the evening, who stayed out while the pair dipped out early.

A source told The Sun: ‘Molly and Tyler couldn’t keep their hands off each other all evening.

‘Their relationship has reached new levels since the show — as this very public display of affection clearly indicates.

‘Everyone can see how well they get on and those close to them can see things continuing to blossom in the future.’

It comes after Tyler was reportedly looking to take the next step with Molly and make their relationship official.

Radio DJ Tyler was allegedly overheard hinting that he would ask the singer to be his girlfriend this week, according to The Sun.

He was allegedly chatting to professional dancers Neil jones and Kai Widdrington in a Newcastle bar, with a source who overheard them telling the publication: ‘He said to them, “Do you ship me and Molly? I’m going to ask her the question.”‘

‘One of them replied, “Yeah we ship you and Molly.” He had a big grin on his face and seemed very happy.’
