Im A Celeb South Africa: Helen Flanagan and Dean Gaffney are next to be eliminated

Two more celebrities left the bush on Wednesday night’s episode of I’m A Celebrity South Africa.

Former Corrie actress Helen Flanagan, 32, and EastEnders icon Dean Gaffney, 45, said their goodbyes after coming last in the Survival Trial.

The latest episode began as the next Survival Trial continued where the stars were all locked in crates filled with critters as they had to release themselves from the locks.

The two who were last sadly had to leave the show as the battle to become the next I’m A Celeb Legend continued.

Helen said as she left: ‘I’ve had the time of my life I have just had the best time I am so grateful. I knew I would be bad at the challenge.’

Fans again were sad with who had left as they took to social media as the episode aired.

One said: ‘Helen Flanagan may be out, but she’s the real winner of I’m A Celeb South Africa. She has come so far since her original appearance on the show, and earned the title of I’m A Celebrity legend. #ImACeleb.’

Another said: ‘All the best people have gone out of I’m a celeb now, non of them are legends that are left in there #ImACeleb.’

A third wrote: ‘Helen’s redemption arc was one of the only things worth I’m a celeb legend! Also we’ve lost dean this ep ain’t off to a good start #ImACeleb.’

It comes after Joe Swash was eliminated from I’m A Celebrity South Africa on Tuesday night’s episode.

The former soap star, 41, said goodbye to the bush after losing the latest Survival Trial where he went up against Phil Tufnell.

The pair were locked in snake-infested tombs and had to crack the codes to four locks – with whoever got out first returning to camp.

But Joe was slow with his locks so was sent home in emotional scenes as he admitted he was ready to go home and see his family who he was missing.

As he left he said: ‘It has been so long! I’m too old for his game now! I have loved meeting everyone.

‘I miss my kids and my wife and I can’t wait to see them. I’ve had too much on my mind and too much waiting for me at home. I’ve had the time of my life though!

‘It is mixed emotions, I have had the best adventure and all good things have to come to an end. I miss my kids so it’s time to go’.

The Survival Trial took place between Phil and Joe as the race to the final began.

To decide who would go head to head the stars had to pick stones out of a bag to choose who would be exempt.

Helen got the orange stone meaning she was exempt.  She then got to chose who would be exempt with her as the line continued until Phil and Joe were left.

They then had to take on the Temple of Doom where they had to get into tombs that were locked shut.

There were four locks they had to get past to get out but weren’t alone in their tombs. The first to get out would be saved while the other would go home.

They were joined by 55 huge snakes in the tomb as Joe began swearing and exclaiming how big they were.

At one point one snake wound its way around Phil’s neck while he tried to crack the codes of the locks.

However he managed to unlock them the quickest sending Joe home.

Earlier in the episode Joe broke down in tears as he revealed the hunger and tiredness was getting to him and he was missing his wife Stacey Solomon and children.

Wiping away tears, Joe said: ‘It’s just overwhelming, innit. The hunger, the tiredness. Being away from your family.

‘I’m obviously stressing out about the kids. Not seeing them, missing them, so yeah. I think they are getting into my sleep a little bit now.

‘It just brings it all to the surface.’

At the time of filming, Stacey was still pregnant with their youngest daughter Belle, now three months old.

The couple also share Rose, 16 months, and Rex, two.

Joe is stepfather to Stacey’s sons Zach, 15, and Leighton, nine, from previous relationships and he has a son Harry, 15, with his ex, Emma Sophocleous.

Earlier, Joe tearfully said: ‘I’m really missing my kids… I don’t know how to get rid of the feeling.’

Myleene Klass and Jordan Banjo were the first to get up to embrace their friend as he discussed how he was feeling.

He said: ‘I was a different person the first time [I did I’m A Celeb in 2008]. This time there’s so much at home waiting for me.

On Monday’s show, Joe said he has the ITV show to thank for ‘giving him everything’.

The former soap star who won the competition in 2008, met his soon to be wife Stacey Solomon two years later when he presented the series’ spin-off and she was crowned Queen of the Jungle.

And in emotional scenes he told his camp mate that he was the ‘biggest winner ever’ in the series’ history after he walked away with a crown as well as a gorgeous family.

Joe said that would have been known simply as ‘that guy off EastEnders’ before quipping he is much prouder to now be ‘Stacey Solomon’s husband’.
