Allkpop is due for their second performance review! Will the Kpopalypse boycott be lifted? Read on and find out!
It’s been twelve long years since Kpopalypse introduced a boycott of popular k-pop website Allkpop. Following is the backstory on the Allkpop boycott, because k-pop fans are forgetful and a lot of newer fans don’t know this stuff.
Initially I boycotted Allkpop for 72 months, because I decided that the website didn’t meet required standards. The 72 month period wasn’t random, it was inspired by the 72-hour boycott that was instituted by another website at the time called Beyond Hallyu in response to Aileegate.
All of this feels like very ancient lore. Beyond Hallyu are now defunct – don’t search for them, you’ll be taken to some gambling site squatting on the domain and infected with viruses quicker than a 6Theory CEO at a swinger’s party. “Aileegate” is also largely forgotten at this point, even web searches for the term lead pretty much nowhere in 2025.
However the perpetrators of this revenge porn incident are alive and well, and even thriving. Of course with lots of “outraged” talk but either pissweak boycotts or no boycotts at all instituted by others, the negative blowback on Allkpop due to the Aileegate scandal was always going to be nothing, and it does seem that everyone involved basically just got away with it all with no consequences.
If anything Allkpop is even more popular now, with k-pop attracting a whole new audience with equally short memories and even shorter attention spans, nobody cares for the welfare of second generation k-pop soloists, it seems.
Of course I never forgave Allkpop, because not only did they spread revenge porn but they committed a crime far more extreme: they deleted my Asteroids high score from back in the days when that website had a games function. This is why to this day there is a link to a free Asteroids game on my site’s sidebar. Kpopalypse out here giving you the gaming that Allkpop can’t.
So that’s the boring backstory – but what about Allkpop in 2025, does it meet required standards? Let’s find out!
CRITERIA 1 – DOES ALLKPOP STILL SUCK DICKS?
Since I last visited, Allkpop hasn’t changed much, same shitty Reddit-lite format (as if Reddit is something to emulate), but now it’s a… shop?
Yes, they sure do know a thing or two about k-pop! Let’s not forget that Allkpop’s parent company 6Theory once debuted their own k-pop group, the horrid “New.F.O”, what a hellride that was.
I hope those girls checked their dorms twice for cameras. Anyway back to Allkpop and their excellent service, and…

CRITERIA 2 – DID JOHNNY NOH BEAT MY ASTEROIDS HIGH SCORE?
Well, I have no idea. So I had to find out. Firstly, does Allkpop have a games section? The answer is… kind of.
They have this “arcade” thing, where I guess you can play games by making posts, or… something? Maybe it will work for Asteroids. Of course, I’ve been banned on Allkpop since forever, so I had to make a new account.
Oh, my username isn’t valid? Gosh they really don’t like me over there, for me to earn a blacklisting like that. Time to go incognito.
Nobody will suspect me with this cunning disguise. Now that I was prepared, it was time to venture into the forums. But first I’d better read the forum rules.
After all I wouldn’t want to cop another ban, or be faced with “diciplanary” action, god knows what form that would take. Also it’s good to see Allkpop having some rules against sexual harassment, they could have used those in 2013 but anyway…
So I tried to start a thread where I could play Asteroids with other forums members. However I couldn’t work out how to actually make a thread. Then I remembered that a lot of forums have a rule where you have to participate in a number of other threads before you’re allowed to make your own, this is to combat spam and bad actors obviously. So I started participating in good faith.
It’s important to start small.
This looks like a fun game! Let’s participate.

Oh, I finally found the “create game” button. I guess I’ve responded to enough postings now, that I’m trusted to create my own. Or maybe it was there all along and I’m just senile. Who knows. But now we can play Asteroids!
Oh wait, these aren’t Asteroids. I don’t want to play stupid chess.
Okay, scratch that thought, I guess I’m playing stupid chess. So I tried this chess game and made a move and waited and nobody made one back. A pity, would have been a challenging game given that I can’t see half the pieces because Allkpop’s forums aren’t compatible with dark mode.
Oh, now here’s a game that’s more within my wheelhouse! I love a “fun game”.
That should bring some attention to Cindee’s plight. Kpopalypse has got your back, Cindee!

Fortunately for me, the last song in the thread before my post was actually something decent, so I didn’t have to bum everyone out with my notorious shitting on everyone’s faves.
Gosh it feels so good to spread positivity.
So that’s five posts, and I still don’t have posting rights. Clearly Johnny Noh is too much of a pussy boy to let me make an Asteroids thread and whip his ass. Weak.
CRITERIA 3 – DID ALLKPOP APOLOGISE AND PROMISE TO REFLECT?
No, of course not. Johnny Noh just posted a bunch of right-wing stuff instead.
Here he is, mocking French people – disgusting. Kpopalypse would never.
CRITERIA 4 – HOW DO KPOPALYPSE READERS FEEL?
Since BlueSky doesn’t have a polling option, and I didn’t want to run yet another reader survey on the site itself, I had to lift my boycott of Twitter to get information for my boycott of Allkpop. Ah Elon, you crafty devil, you’ve checkmated me like NewJeans in the witness box.
Well over 97% is pretty unanimous, less scientists agree about humans causing global warming or doctors about nicotine causing cancer. It’s clear what readers want. But there were still more questions.
CRITERIA 5 – ARE PEOPLE STILL DUMB ENOUGH TO VISIT THAT SHIT SITE?
Of course they are. They’re even doing better than Koreaboo with all their clickbait (who I’ll get to in a couple of weeks if they don’t lift their game and apologise for their Sulli coverage), so you know that there’s lots of stupid k-pop fans still out there giving them clicks.
CRITERIA 6 – WHAT DOES KPOPALYPSE’S CAT THINK ABOUT ALL THIS?
Not very much. She can’t even bring herself to look at the screen for more than half a minute. Clearly she is smarter than the average k-pop fan.
CONCLUSION – BOYCOTT EXTENDED
All the facts and data yet again point to only one option. The Kpopalypse boycott of Allkpop continues until 14th November 2031.
During this time:
- Allkpop will not be linked to from kpopalypse.com in any posts published for the duration of the boycott period
- Allkpop will be referred to as The Great Satan only
- Comments referring to Allkpop that refer to it by its original name instead of the new assigned name/s will be auto-moderated/edited to suit
- Readers will be encouraged not to visit the boycotted site under any circumstances
However just to show that there are no hard feelings, I yet again decided to do Allkpop one last favour before I re-extended the boycott, and submitted a nice article for their site.
Sadly, once again my hard work was not appreciated and the article didn’t make it through the moderation queue.
A pity as it’s probably the closest thing to journalism that site has had submitted to it in a while. Oh well. I suppose I can’t expect much justice from revenge-porn advocates. Kpopalypse will return with more posts soon, and in the meantime don’t visit Allkpop The Great Satan! Stay safe, caonimas!
