Married At First Sight star Chanita slams the door on a reunion with Jordan

There was closure of sorts for Married At First Sight star Chanita Stephenson on Sunday evening as she effectively turned down a reunion with Jordan Emmett-Connelly. 

The pair exchanged vows during the latest series of the E4 show, but their shotgun marriage misfired after Jordan ‘stopped making an effort’ with his new wife before abruptly dumping her. 

But humble pie appeared to be top of the menu as a hopeful Jordan asked for forgiveness during Sunday evening’s Christmas reunion – prompting outrage from fans already aggrieved with his past behaviour.

‘I do want to see if we can pick up the pieces,’ he explained during a face-to-face with his tearful wife, after she asked him to discuss his long-term intention. 

‘This is all I’ve ever wanted to hear,’ she admits. ‘But I think it might be a little too late.’ 

The decision proved to be a popular one with viewers, and many expressed their joy across social media shortly after the festive episode aired.

Sharing a meme with Twitter followers, one fan wrote: ‘This is currently the queue for decent blokes wanting to date Chanita. 

‘Jordon you messed up here, big style. Chanita’s beautiful both inside and out and you hurt her. You’ll struggle to find another lady as lovely as Chanita.’ 

A second wrote: ‘So proud of #chanita she knows her worth and it took guts to say that.’

Speaking to The Sun after filming the Christmas episode, social worker Chanita admitted it gave her the opportunity to start a new chapter after splitting with Jordan.  

She said: ‘I think I got my closure from Christmas filming to be honest – that’s my closure. I’m actually feeling really good and ready to get myself back out there. I’m in a good place.

‘There is no chance for us to get back together, that door is closed, I opened it a little bit before but it’s slammed, melted the key, it’s not opening again. That’s how I feel.’ 

She added: ‘I’m friends with Jordan, I chat to him quite a bit, but it’s just that.’ 

Chanita and Jordan split soon after the show finished filming with a source telling The Mirror: ‘Chanita tried everything to keep the spark they had in the initial weeks of them meeting alive but a relationship is about two people – and Jordan no longer seemed interested’.
