Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson takes a tumble during Dancing On Ice rehearsals in Yorkshire

Nile Wilson took a tumble as he rehearsed for Dancing On Ice with professional skating partner Olivia Smart in Yorkshire on Thursday.

The Olympic gymnast, who has signed up for the forthcoming 15th series of the hit ITV show, struggled to stay upright as he tried out his new skills.

Nile was seen sliding over as he quickly threw his hands out to stop his face from hitting the ice.

Brushing himself off, Nile looked nervous as he held his arms out for balance while skating solo with Olivia close by to lend a hand if needed.

The sportsman donned a pair of black Gymshark tracksuit bottoms with a matching T-shirt and warm gloves.

Following the fall, Nile and Olivia continued to embarked upon their gruelling training session as their coach watched on, giving out pointers.

The pair were seen performing synchronised moves as they balanced on one leg while gliding over the rink.

Nile revealed the news that he has joined the hit ITV show on his YouTube channel last month.

He told his fans: ‘I’m going to be on ITV’s Dancing on Ice! This is a really cool thing.

‘I’ve certainly not done much ice-skating but I am so excited for the opportunity. I’m so excited to get into that routine and to feel like an athlete again.’

On what he hopes to bring to the ice, Nile said: ‘My biggest goal on the show is to do something that no-one has ever done before!’

Eleven celebrities will embark on the ultimate challenge as they take to the ice each week, skating live in a bid to impress both the panel and viewers at home.

Nile joins a stellar line-up of stars including football legend John Fashanu, actress and DJ Patsy Palmer, Love Island winner Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, The Wanted singer Siva Kaneswaran, former Liberty X singer Michelle Heaton and comedian Darren Harriott.

Also appearing is Coronation Street actress Mollie Gallagher, reality star Joey Essex, Hollyoaks star Carley Stenson and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star The Vivienne.
