Emmerdale fans fume as Rhona makes difficult baby decision for her ex

Emmerdale viewers were left seething during Monday’s episode as they watched Rhona Goskirk come to a difficult decision following the recent arrival of her ex-husband Gus Malcolm in the village.

After a lengthy divorce which saw her lose custody of their dog, Rhona (Zoë Henry) was furious to find her ex in the Woolpack last week and furiously berated him for trying to contact her.

The surprise new character baffled many fans as they noted Rhona had never mentioned her marriage to Gus (Alan McKenna) during her 13 years on the soap, despite Rhona branding him the ‘worst mistake of my life’ last week.

And the reason for his return soon emerged, as Gus asked if he could use Rhona’s frozen embryos so he and his new wife Lucy (Charlotte Asprey) could have a baby together, with him already having found a clinic where he had been secretly acting on Rhona’s behalf.

As Rhona celebrated her birthday with her friends and family in the Woolpack during Monday’s episode, Gus showed up with his wife, with Rhona meeting her for the first time, prompting Rhona’s mother Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson) to berate him for his request from Rhona before demanding he leave.

While Rhona’s mother was deeply unimpressed, Rhona still appeared open minded and later decided to tell Gus he and his wife could use her embryos, leaving viewers just as angry as Rhona’s mum.

Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: ‘Rhona should be pleased her mum stood up and told them where to go imo #emmerdale.’

Defending her mother’s stern words to Gus, another person tweeted: ‘She’s going to get involved, she is your mum Rhona. #Emmerdale.’

Unimpressed with Rhona’s decision, someone else remarked: ‘I knew it, Rhona’s going to let them use her embryos, nothings going to go wrong at all, is it… #emmerdale.’

While another viewer noted: ‘Rhona, you’re doing yourself no favours here. #Emmerdale.’

Another incensed soap fan wrote: ‘The emotional blackmail of Rhona’s ex is annoying me so much, your fertility issues aren’t her problem #emmerdale.’

Angry Gus had pretended to be Rhona at the clinic, someone else posted: ‘For the fact that Gus pretended to be Rhona I’d be saying no. #Emmerdale.’

While another surprised viewer wrote: ‘Why is Rhona even entertaining any of this ffs #emmerdale.’

Rhona was shocked to learn Gus had already been in touch with a clinic and had been acting on her behalf – leaving her with an impossible choice.

However, Rhona made that choice after Gus and his wife Lucy unexpectedly turned up to her birthday lunch at The Woolpack this week.

Rhona and her family were taken aback by their arrival, with Rhona left unsure of how to respond.

Her incensed mother Mary took charge and let rip at the couple, forcing a devastated Gus and Lucy to make a hasty exit.

Though annoyed by her mother’s intervention, her husband Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) assured her it was her choice and that he would support her with whatever decision she made.
